I created the Back-up Brain Memory Chain Vivarta© to help myself with my glitchy, ADHD memory. Over and over again, everywhere I went, women would see me using it and want one!
How It Works
The Back-up Brain Memory Chain Vivarta© is a stack of little papers placed between two hand-crafted mixed-media covers that I make in my studio.
Adorned with a petite pen and a long chain, it’s my daily, go-to “necklace.” I’ve trained myself to jot down phone numbers, epiphanies, follow ups from conversations, and other brain popcorn bopping around in my head.
Memory Power That’s Post-it Free!
What about the trusty sticky-note you may ask?
In the ADHD coaching lingo, Post-it notes help us “externalize” the barrage of overwhelming thoughts and to-dos, thus unburdening our stressed out brain.
Here’s the thing, to capture all our brain popcorn, a lot of us generate a mountain of sticky notes.
Not only that, I noticed that I was spending eons finding and organizing my post-its rather than doing the tasks written on them!
Now I feel confident and calm knowing that I have all of my brain popcorn in one place.* I never have to hunt down that vital health insurance info on the back of an envelope again!
*Clarification – My Back-up Brain Memory Chain is my analogue solution for paper notes and to-dos. I keep a highly-searchable digital system as well. #ADHDsurvivalskills
Wearable Tech
The Victorian Aide Memoire Makeover
The Back-up Brain Memory Chain is my modern makeover of the historical Aide Memoire, aka a tiny pad and pencil “memory aide.” With a decorative silver or pewter cover, fashionable 19th-century females wore them as part of their Chatelaine, an ingenious wearable tech invention where jewelry meets toolbelt!
Bonus Dash of Neuro-Calm
I create colorful mixed-media covers that serve as both jewelry and a quick soothe and reset toy. Here’s where neuroscience comes in: quite intentionally, I make multi-textured covers so when you open the little pad, your fingertips experience a little sensory pleasure that calms the nervous system.

Psst, it’s a neuroscience no-brainer!
